This week at Bockers and Pony HQ, we’ve been inspired by a Ted Talk by David Steindl-Rast about how to become truly happy. Ted Talks are lovely bedtime stories for grown-ups and we’re all addicted.
Why do we come across some people that have amazing lives, successful careers and beautiful families but are still unhappy? They want something else or they want more of the same and they are just not happy.
Then we see people who have experienced difficulty, adversity or great misfortune and they are deeply happy. They indeed radiate happiness. You know those people. They are a joy to be around. They are infectious.
Being grateful makes us happy. When someone gives something that is truly valuable to another person and is freely given, this spontaneous gratefulness creates spontaneous happiness.
So when we are confronted with difficulty we need to try and rise to the opportunity that this moment provides. It is an opportunity to make a choice and enjoy the richness of life.
The method for living gratefully described by David Steindl-Rast is to STOP-LOOK-GO. We are so busy being busy that we need to build some stop signs into our life and open our hearts to opportunity and DO SOMETHING. Enjoy the moment. Be creative!
It is this sense of having enough, being enough that comes a willingness to share and be respectful of others.
We truly love what we do at Bockers & Pony. We are grateful to be a part of your lives and sharing your moments of gratefulness. We truly hope that gift giving is something that you do to make you and your loved ones happy.
Until next time happy people!
